“Living Our Dream” Mike and Janet Carraway are doing just that. Both Mike and Janet grew up with a history of horses. Mike grew up showing and riding Arabian horses at the first Arabian ranch in Mississippi with his father Doyle Carraway. Janet grew up with horses, but never showed until she was out on her own. She always wanted an Arabian – the most beautiful horse in the world to her. This love of the Arabian horse brought them together in Jackson, MS in 1986 when Janet put her Half-Arabian in training with Mike’s Dad. In 1990, they moved back to Janet’s home town in Starkville, MS and transformed the farm that has been in her family for 5 generations into one of the southeast’s leading training, breeding and marketing facilities. Thus, Cypress Creek Ranch was begun. They share this farm with their son, Michael, their daughter, Annabelle, the horses, dogs, cats, deer and turkey. The ranch consists of 80 acres located in the northern part of Mississippi in the middle of a National Refuge. The ranch is surrounded by woods and wildlife and is an oasis of rolling pastures within a forest. It is an idyllic atmosphere for horses. One can ride on beautiful wooded trails right outside the gates. It is a very serene and peaceful setting for the horses and Mike and Janet treasure the time spent there with the horses and their family.
In the breeding division, Cypress Creek ranch stands several stallions. Our goal is to produce horses with type, correctness and athletic ability. We are very proud of our foundation mares with varying pedigrees from pure Polish to straight Egyptian. We have a variety of horses and foals available for sale at all times. If we don’t have the right horse for you, we can help you find it. Mike and Janet would like to invite you to visit and experience Cypress Creek Ranch hospitality. Our lifestyle is relaxed and unpretentious. We personally see to every aspect of the horse’s care, breeding, foaling, grooming and conditioning. Living daily with our horses, and sharing them and our expertise with clients and friends makes for a rewarding life – “Living our Dream.” Mike and Janet Carraway
